WHO WE ARE

WHAT IS A MESSIANIC CONGREGATION?

A Messianic congregation is a fellowship of Jewish and gentile believers in Jesus (Yeshua in Hebrew) that worship in a more Hebraic/Jewish style and often emphasize teaching from the Old Testament (Tanach) and observing the Hebrew Feast days.

There are various distinctions that each congregation may have.  The Beth Emanuel family has people from many different backgrounds and persuasions and we feel really blessed to be a very diverse congregation.

We are “Spirit-filled” and prioritize worship and the preaching of the Scriptures.

Our Rabbi (Pastor), Israel Nelson, grew up in Tiberias, Israel, and loves to teach Biblical insights from the Hebrew language each week.  Click here for a sample sermon

Our Chief Rabbi (Teacher) Yeshua emphasized love and unity as the hallmarks of His disciples, teaching that these traits prove that we follow Him and that His Father sent Him.  At Beth Emanuel, we are building a congregation that is truly a family, that takes care of each other and knows what is going on in each others' lives.  If you want to be part of a family that is committed to walk through thick and thin, come get to know our family.

We have a nursery and classes for children (ages 6-12) taught by our loving volunteers.  They are taught lessons from the Bible and often have special classes during the Jewish and Biblical holidays.  Go to our Children's Classes page to see more - Click Here.

Our Saturday morning service is an informal time for sincere worship and study of the Scripture.

We have a wonderful dance ministry and people are welcome to join in.  We sing many songs that are familiar to Christians, Jews, and those who have been around the Messianic movement for a while.  We love songs by Paul Wilbur, Ted Pearce, Jonathan Settel, Joel Chernoff and many others.  Click here to see a sample of our dancers.

Our Bible teaching is usually provided by our Rabbi (Pastor) and typically emphasizes a Hebraic understanding of a passage or word.

There are several Jewish customs that we practice in our service like singing the Sh’ma and the Aaronic Benediction.

After service we have refreshments together and a prayer team is available to pray for any needs people have.

Typical order of service –

- Blowing the shofar (rams horn) and opening prayer

- Greeting each other

- Announcements and testimonies

- Singing the Sh’ma

- Live Praise and Worship

- Dismiss older children (4-12)

- Sermon

- Aaronic Benediction

- Dismissal and refreshments

- Prayer ministry is available

We believe that the Bible (both the Old and New Testaments) contains the full revelation of who God is and what He expects of mankind.

We believe that Jesus (Yeshua in Hebrew) is the Messiah the Jewish prophets said would come.  We believe that His death  and resurrection were prophesied in Isaiah 53 and other scriptures to be a payment of our sin.

We believe that God loves the Jewish people and has not rejected them or replaced them with the “church”.  He will fulfill every promise to the seed of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, including national redemption through our Messiah!

We believe that the holidays and Sabbaths in the scripture are  a beautiful picture of the kingdom of God and celebrate them all with great joy and look forward to the day when all the nations will celebrate them together in Jerusalem as the prophets foretell.

For those that are a part of the Hebrew‍‍ roots movement, please note...

We don’t have any official position on the One Law doctrines.  We honor everyone with a genuine heart to do the will of God and obey His Word and recognize that godly men and women do not always agree on what the Scriptures require of us.

We encourage loving and humble conversations that affirm the priority of the Gospel on all such topics, but we discourage anyone with a judgmental or elitist attitude toward mainstream Christian brothers and sisters from attending our congregation.  You won’t like it here.

Beth Emanuel is a part of the Every Nation.
